The Tacoma City Marathon Association has introduced more than 160 running sports events to the world in over 15 years of activity. This impressive number is astonishing. And you probably guessed that The Defiance 50k / 30k / 15k is not the only thing that the Association can boast of. Today we invite you to take a closer look at some of the famous running events.
Pay attention to The Defiance 50k / 30k / 15k
The Defiance 50k / 30k / 15k marathon itself is the most famous and successful of the list of events held by the Association. The territory of its holding is considered to be one of the most beautiful urban parks in the United States. Incredible ancient forests of cedar and spruce and the scenic scenery of Puget Sound will take the breath away from the participants during the race itself. The running field has a little more than 16 kilometers, each centimeter of which fascinates with its beauty.
Participants can take part in the marathon in three different formats. The 15k format means passing the track once, the 30k format – twice, and the 50k format – three times, respectively. Some runners opt for the 50k on purpose so they can enjoy the natural beauty longer.
Event Paddy’s Day Run Tacoma can’t help but grab your attention
As you already understood, by the name you could determine that the Tacoma City Marathon Association decided to hold this marathon on St. Patrick’s Day. The St. Patrick’s Day event is called a half marathon. Such races began to be organized in 2009. Starting in 2018 there was a short break, but at the beginning of 2022 the association was pleased to announce that this year the half marathon is back again.
The course of the half marathon is quite easy, but the organizers announced some hills and humps, with the goal, as they themselves said, of footwork. The trail starts from the center of Tacoma and leads along a beautiful waterfront with incredible views of marine life, and then runners could reach the Dune Peninsula Park. On the way to this park, the organizers promise the participants the opportunity to see the city from a bird’s eye view. The finish line of the track is also in the center of the city, so the whole track has the shape of a loop. The participants also have a time limit of 4 hours, but, as practice shows, this time is more than enough for a measured pace of running.
It is also worth noting that at the end of the race, all participants who have reached the finish mark will be able to receive the main prize of the event – the St. Paddy’s Day Run.
The Turkey Trot in Tacoma City is another special race for participants
The Turkey Trot is announced by the organizers as a great event for the whole family. The Turkey Trot was originally introduced to a number of Thanksgiving running events. The race is held in the morning and starts in one of the parks in Tacoma. Organizers believe that the best start to Thanksgiving is on the track with family and friends. Moreover, the use of costumes and paraphernalia is also encouraged. You could come in a turkey costume – the main thing is that you feel comfortable running.
This race offers a 5 km course for adults and a 1 km course for children. Both tracks are located in a very scenic area of Tacoma. For adults, the conditions are the same as in any other marathon. As for the children’s track, such an initiative was invented in order to maintain children’s interest in sports. Children up to 12 years of age could participate in the 1 km race, and they can also run the distance with their parents for support.
